Con la asistencia del Presidente de la República, Lic. Danilo Medina se inauguró el Hotel Crowne Plaza Santo Domingo, llamado el V Centenario pasando a formar parte de la prestigiosa Cadena de lujo Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts.
El acto inició con la bendición del Arzobispo de Santo Domingo, Monseñor Nicolás de Jesús Cardenal López Rodríguez, luego se procedió al izamiento de la nueva bandera de la marca Crowne Plaza, mientras la Banda de Música del Ejército Nacional interpretaba las notas gloriosas del Himno Nacional. A seguidas se lanzaron fuegos artificiales como señal de celebración y júbilo por la llegada de la nueva marca a Santo Domingo.
El presidente de Inverplata S. A., Pierre Nahas (Hijo), hizo el anuncio del cambio: “Les anunciamos que Crowne Plaza es una de las marcas más joviales y dinámicas de InterContinental Hotels Group. Por lo tanto para nosotros es un gran acontecimiento el proyectar esta nueva imagen moderna y tecnológica. Con este relanzamiento iniciamos una nueva era de Calidad, Servicio y Estándares Internacionales con la practicidad de los nuevos tiempos.
El Gerente General de Crowne Plaza Santo Domingo, Arvey Benavides explicó la importancia del cambio: “Nuestro éxito ha sido basado en ser innovadores, el buen servicio y la satisfacción de nuestros Clientes y Empleados. La marca Crowne Plaza que inició en el mundo hotelero en 1983 y ya son más de 400 hoteles en el mundo, está orientada hacia el mercado de lujo de reuniones y convenciones con diferentes programas de garantía de excelencia.”
A la llegada, los invitados disfrutaron de la recreación de un túnel, el cual mostraba la historia de InterContinental y luego la entrada al cambio, con algunos espacios de Crowne Plaza, como el Restaurante Nabú, el Programa especial para eventos y reuniones, y el modelo de una habitación con una simpática pareja que ofrecía su testimonio por su estadía en el nuevo hotel. La música estuvo a cargo de la Banda Retro Jazz de Peng Bian Sang, la Violinista Militza Iankova y el Jazzista Sandy Sax, los cuales deleitaron a los invitados con exquisitas interpretaciones.
